“Mid-Ohio is one of my favorite circuits and I can’t wait to get the weekend started.” Says Dakota and continues, “We won the race there last year and it will be great to showcase the strengths of our Ligier JSP3. We’ve had some small issues keep us away from our true potential, and I’m very excited to get back to work with Dominic Cicero and the MLT Motorsports crew.”

Heading into the event in 2nd place in the championship, only 9 points behind the series leader, Dickerson and MLT Motorsports are looking to close the gap prior to the season finale at Road Atlanta.

Another exciting aspect of this weekend’s event is the announcement of the 3rd annual paws on a racecar fundraiser supporting Nowzad. Dickerson has been a supporter of the charity which provides the necessary care and treatment of the many neglected and abused animals in Afghanistan. The wonderful group at Nowzad later transfers the animals into loving home around the world. They also provide the paperwork and vaccinations necessary to reconnect veterans with their animal companions that they build incredible bonds with while on deployment. The charity will run for the 2 weeks leading up to the season finale and Dickerson is looking to better last years fundraiser which raised nearly $9,000!

The fundraiser can be found via Dakota’s Fundraiser page and additional updates into the race weekend can be found on the Dickerson Racing social media channels:

About Nowzad:
When our soldiers are deployed overseas, they often form bonds with abandoned dogs and cats but are unable to bring them home when their tour of duty is over. Nowzad cares for these battle buddies and helps raise funds so our veterans can be reunited with the furry friends that helped them survive their time serving our country. In addition, Nowzad provides vital Animal Welfare for a variety of different animals in Kabul and developed training programs to improve the relationship between working animals and the Afghan people.
